Prayer for the Campus of Virginia Tech
April 17, 2007
33 people dead ... many more injured The worst massacre ever on a college campus
As we try to make sense out the events that happened just 24 hours ago (7:15 a.m. & 9:45 a.m.), I invite you to take a moment of silence and say a prayer for those in the midst of this most distressing situation. If the words just don't seem to come, I invite you to pray the prayer below.
A Prayer for the campus of Virginia Tech
Almighty and loving God,
I come to you today with a heavy heart.
As I have heard the horrific news from the campus of Virginia Tech,
I cannot seem to make sense out of this senseless act.
Your children are hurting Lord.
And I know that it hurts you to see your children suffering.
Lord, we look to you for guidance at times like this.
We pray that your love and compassion surround those suffering.
Lord, I pray that you bring comfort to the students of Virginia Tech.
I pray that you give comfort to the families and friends of the victims.
I pray for those still fighting for their lives in the hospitals.
I pray that you comfort and guide the Virginia Tech administration, faculty and staff, in the coming hours and days as they respond to this terrible tragedy.
Lord, we live in a world where your will is not done on earth as it is in heaven.
Lord, make your presence known. Pour out your spirit of love upon us.
Create in us a renewed spirit. Lord, bring peace to our world!
