Dean, Price School of Education

Reinhardt University invites applications for the position of Dean of the Price School of Education. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track position and will start July 1, 2018. The Dean reports to the Provost and serves on the Provost’s Council.

The Price School of Education’s teacher preparation program services approximately 20% of the 1,500 students attending Reinhardt University and focuses its instructional philosophy on training future educators in methods of differentiation in teaching and learning.  The School offers degree programs in Early Childhood Education, Middle Grades Education, Biology Education, English Education, History Education, Mathematics Education, and Music Education.  Graduate programs include a Masters of Arts in Teaching and a Masters in Early Childhood Education.

The University seeks a Dean who will lead faculty and staff in developing a stimulating educational environment where students have an opportunity to grow and learn.  The new Dean should recognize the significance of both theoretical knowledge and field-based practice and be able to build a team of active faculty to implement these values. The University also seeks a Dean who champions the profession of education and understands that new teachers will experience increasingly diverse backgrounds and ethnicities in their classrooms. Reinhardt also seeks a Dean versed in the issues surrounding educational accountability, assessment, and accreditation and the practical know-how to address Georgia accreditation requirements.

As a faculty member, the dean will teach one undergraduate or graduate course per semester at either the main campus in Waleska, Georgia or at Vickery Creek Elementary School in Cumming, Georgia. Supervision of student teachers may be assigned in lieu of teaching a course. As dean, responsibilities will include overseeing operations of the Price School of Education and setting a strategic vision for the growth of the School. The position requires an earned doctorate in teacher education with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction, early childhood education, or a related field. Experience at the university level, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, is desired, as is successful experience in working with diverse learners.
