Director of Human Resources

Reinhardt University is seeking a Director of Human Resources to add to our staff on our main campus in Waleska, GA. Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for a wide range of human resources functions including but not limited to training and development, benefits administration, resolving personnel conflicts, leave of absences, compliance with University’s policies and procedures as well as compliance with federal and state laws/regulations related to benefits, wages, and taxes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Selects, develops, supervises and evaluates subordinates and advises in the selection, placement, training and supervision of other employees as needed
• Recommends, evaluates and implements appropriate approaches and technology in the delivery of human resource activities and programs to support the mission of the university
• Oversees HR investigations of employee complaints regarding unlawful discrimination, harassment, workplace/campus safety and other related matters
• Advises managers, supervisors and employees on University policies, practices, discipline and performance evaluation matters.
• Directs the employee leave process and integrated disability management programs, including return-to-work, and oversees and ensures compliance related to ADA, harassment, discrimination, Title IX and EEO
• Counsels on benefits and leave programs as related to: workers’ compensation, Family Medical Leave (FMLA), liaison with benefit vendors and brokers.
• Ensure compliance by monitoring employee files, critical due dates, and benefit eligibility
• Oversight for open enrollment and assist employees with benefits related questions.
• Responsible for submission of Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System report and compliance to SACSCOC

Knowledge and Abilities
• Knowledge of current federal, state and local legislation and guidelines pertaining to assigned areas of responsibility
• Skilled in computerized human resource management information and PC systems
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside entities with excellent written and verbal skills
• Ability to perform analytical studies, perform research and prepare reports
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a complex environment while utilizing highest business ethics, confidentiality, and discretion in all matters related to employees’ internal and external processes
• Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of strategic business planning and process improvement
• Knowledge of principles and practices of business/public administration, including budgeting, risk management, purchasing and maintenance of public records
• Operate as a team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, business administration, or directly related field from an accredited college or university
• 5-8+ years of experience of recent progressively responsible Human Resources experience; three years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience must include at least three of the following human resources management functions: employee relations, worker’s compensation, policy development and review, training and staff development, recruitment and selection, employee benefits and personnel research
Preferred Requirements:
• Master’s degree in a related field
• Professional certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP)
• Experience in higher education
