Funk Heritage Center Special Programs

The Funk Heritage Center offers many special programs for adults and children, including:

  • Specialized tours for school children.
  • Group tours for adults.
  • Lectures on various interesting topics.
  • Georgia History Timeline (October - see school field trips) Professional re-enactors portray many famous historical characters. More than 2000 children attend this one-of-a-kind school field trip each year. 
  • History Alive - (see school field trips) Living history volunteers are dressed in pioneer clothing in the Appalachian Settlement.
  • Pioneer Days (each May - see school field trips) Students visit Settlement to see how early Georgia settlers lived and worked.
  • Summer day camp for elementary age children.
  • Monthly book club (no cost for attendees).
  • Native American Day (each November).
  • Local and Family History Program (each spring). 
  • Programs and tours available for scout groups - call for information and reservations.
