           Wild About Georgia Educator Workshop

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (lunch will be provided)

       2 PLUs available for attending all 3 days
       1 PLU available for attending 2 days
       No PLU for attending 1 day, Reinhardt College CEU's available

Target Audience:
Classroom teachers, home-school parents, scout leaders, 
other youth group leaders, and the general public.

Course Description:   
Day 1 - Georgia's Native Seasons: In this interactive workshop you
will explore the changes that occur in the flora and fauna throughout the Georgia seasons. Curriculum and resource will be provided including over 80 hands-on activities which are a great addition to any outdoor classroom lesson plan.

Day 2 - Project Wild: This program emphasizes the ecological values of wildlife,  as well as its importance as a basis for teaching how ecosystems function.  Curriculum and resources provided.

Day 3 - Monarchs Across Georgia: Discover ways to use the lifecycle of the monarch butterfly to learn the skills necessary to raise, care for, and study them in your classroom.  also, make your schoolyard or backyard an attractive habitat for monarchs and many other butterflies.  Practice the skills involved in catching and tagging monarch butterflies.  Curriculum and resources provided.

Registration fee: $30 per person for one workshop. $55 for two workshops and $70 for all three workshops.

Georgia Humanities Council Grant funds 2005 Teachers' Workshop
The Funk Heritage Center presented a professional development workshop for teachers June 6, 7 and 8 of 2005. The three day workshop was the result of a $5,488 grant from the Georgia Humanities Council. The program was entitled “Native Americans of the Southeast: A Curriculum Based Workshop and Practicum for Teachers.”  Link above has more information.
