Earth
Day Celebration - April 22, 2006
The Funk Heritage Center
Earth Day 2006 Celebration will be held on
Saturday, April 22, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The public is
invited to attend the event free of charge. Regular admission fees will be charged to tour
the Bennett History Museum.
Entertainment, environmental programs,
and craft demonstrations
will be held throughout the day. A special
children’s area will have activities including
storytelling, kid’s gardening and “make and
take” crafts. The event will take place behind
the museum in the Appalachian Settlement. This
will be wonderful family outing.
A Reinhardt College campus
botany walk will be held at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m.,
Mark Crawford, a teacher from Bartow County,
will have a program of music and stories for
children of all ages. Welcome the Bartow County
Boot Scotters at noon and the Dixie Stompers at
12:30 p.m. as they step to music and demonstrate
their dancing skills. At 1 p.m., Jule Medders, a
Civil War musician and songwriter will perform
songs from his CD album, Shades of Blue and
Gray.
The Georgia Conservancy,
Trail of Tears Association, Cherokee County
Recycling Center, Upper Etowah River Alliance
and Birdwatchers from Riverstone Plaza will have
information booths and activities through out
the day. Also, see blacksmith Max Williams and
Deborah Dobbins, the "clay lady".
Archiaeolgist Erin Andrews will be on hand to
look at your artifacts.
Food and drinks will be
sold by the Reinhardt College Habitat for
Humanity volunteers.
