EXPLORING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY
Family History and Genealogy
Workshop
Saturday, February 23, 2008 8:30 a.m. -
1:00 p.m.
Our third annual Family History Workshop, held in
February of 2007, was a huge success. Although still in the planning
stages, our 2008 workshop is scheduled for February 23.
Valerie Frey, an archivist from the Georgia Department
of Archives and History, will speak to the group. She is working on a
book that will explore home food ways and serve as a "how-to" guide for
families who wish to preserve food traditions, and offer recipe
examples.
Last year, one of our
presenters, Terry Barton, president of World Families.net, talked about
DNA as a genealogical tool. A Canton resident and museum volunteer,
followed his advice and was able to trace his family back to Europe.
This is an interesting success story and he will share the details with
the group during a panel discussion on ways to explore family history.
The
workshop fee is $17. Reservations are required.
