Community Collaboration with the Funk Heritage Center
Could your business or organization benefit from sponsoring a Funk Heritage Center program or publication?
The Funk Heritage Center is raising funds to exhibit artifacts excavated at the Canton Walmart site in 1995. These important Cherokee County artifacts, many dating back more than 2,000 years, are officially called the Hickory Log Collection. They are located at the University of Georgia Archaeology Laboratory. Through an agreement between the Laboratory and Reinhardt University, once artifacts are curated, the most important materials will be displayed at the Heritage Center. First, funds must be raised to design and install exhibits so these historic materials can be effectively displayed.
The mission of the Funk Heritage Center of Reinhardt University is to tell the story of the early Appalachian Settlers and Southeastern Indians through educational programming and the collection, care and exhibition of art and artifacts. The Center invites area businesses, non-profit organizations and local government to become partners. By offering financial support, large or small, a business can benefit from publicity in our newsletters, event programs and on our website! Local civic groups are also encouraged to make contributions to support the Center. This educational and tourist attraction helps stimulate the local economy and provide valuable historical context to visitors from around the globe.
Sponsors are currently needed to:
- donate funds to help preserve and exhibit Hickory Log Collection
- sponsor a special fundraising event
- contribute to printing costs for a publication
