Cinematographer and co-producer of the documentary "The Journey", Kathleen Kelly will be a guest speaker at Reinhardt College on Tuesday, January 15 from 4-6 p.m. in the theatre of the Bennett History Museum at the Funk Heritage Center. Kelly will screen clips from the acclaimed documentary and hold a question and answer session. The public is invited to attend.
Kathleen Kelley, The Journey
Kelly currently lives in Atlanta and serves as the vice president of production and director of photography for Journey Productions, Inc., which came into existence during her work on "The Journey". Kelly joined "The Journey" creator Eric Saperston and his partners Dave Murcott and Paige O'Brien in 1996 while working on MTV's reality show "Road Rules". The documentary follows the group on their travels across America and documents candid interviews with people such as, Henry Winkler, then-Texas governor Ann Richards and Billy Crystal.

The documentary started as a project to "capture the collective wisdom of our nation's most thoughtful elders" but "while the wisdom they gained from the elders they interviewed is compelling, it was their own journeys that brought them the greatest insights", according to film's description. The film made its world premiere at the 2001 South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, and was the Audience Choice Award winner for the 25th Annual Atlanta Film and Video Festival. Kelly has also managed or produced several other "The Journey" related projects, such as the "Do Your Thing Tour" which joined Saperston and recording artist Edwin McCain for a live show at colleges and universities across America.
