Faces of Reinhardt: Meet Glenda Bell!

Glenda BellJob title: Administrative Assistant to the Price School of Education.

What I really do: A little bit of everything. When I see something that needs to be done, I do it.  I’m the assistant to the Dean of our education school, Jim Curry. I work with our faculty in lots of different ways. I work closely with our students in processing their admissions to our PSOE and also process their paperwork for their certification to teach.  Some of the students have referred to me as “Ma Bell”.  I guess I do mother them a little.

Years at Reinhardt: 10 years.

I came to Reinhardt because:  I had a call from Doris Jones, who is my husband’s cousin, and she wanted to know if I would be interested in coming to Reinhardt part time (for about 3 months)  to fill in for someone who was going on maternity leave in Support Services.  So I did, and I’ve been here ever since.

One thing I would change about Reinhardt: I wish we could have more parking spaces for faculty and staff.

I was born in: Cherokee County.

People describe me as: friendly and dependable.

Most colleagues don’t know that: I love watching the Braves and college football.  Go Dawgs!!!!

Favorite things to do: Spending time with my grandkids, working in my yard,  and shopping.

Favorite quote: “Stop and Smell the Roses.”

Proudest accomplishment so far: My family, of course, I have three children and three grandchildren.

Pet peeve: I have to be organized at work and at home. I drive myself crazy sometimes.  I have a former student who still refers to me as “Dean of Organizational Skills”.

Best advice ever received: Be kind to one another and also remember to say “Thank You”.

Best advice for new faculty and staff: Don’t hesitate to ask for help, because there are a lot of helpful people on our campus.

What I most want to contribute to students: To let them know we are here for them and to make their journey at Reinhardt a little easier and memorable.

The book everyone should read: The Bible, it’s an awesome book.

The movie everyone should watch: “Forrest Gump.”

The person dead or alive I’d most like to meet: I would love to meet Chipper Jones and get his autograph.

The place I’d love to travel to: I would love to take a trip out west and see the Grand Canyon.

Although you didn’t ask, I’d like to tell you anyway: How much I love being a part of the Reinhardt Family and having the opportunity to help our students
