Softball Program Presents $2900 Check to Organization Fighting Breast Cancer

Softball team raises money to fight breast cancerAfter having its second annual Susan G. Komen for the Cure fundraiser softball games on Oct. 9 at Ken White Softball Field, the Reinhardt University softball program recently presented a $2900 check to the organization for the fight against breast cancer.
“We had another great event in which we raised more money than last year for a great cause,” Reinhardt head softball coach Glen Crawford said. “Hopefully in the years to come, this event will become bigger and we can raise even more money. I would like to thank everyone who had a part in helping us with this event, especially our sponsors.”


Sponsors of the event, in which the Lady Eagles played intrasquad games, included Buffalo’s Café, Taco Mac, La Parilla Mexican Restaurant, PetSmart, American Bodyworks, Chamberhouse, BleuDame, Williamson Brothers Bar-B-Q, Herndon Heating & Air Conditioning, Kreations Hair Salon, Moore Buick GMC, Tacos & Beer Mexican Restaurant, Art Jewelers, Woodstock Insulation Company and Ember Hot Yoga. Several hundred people showed up to support the cause.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion to the cause since its inception in 1982. As the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists, the organization is working to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all, and energize science to find cures. Susan G. Komen Cancer for the Cure is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
The check was presented to Terrica Oglesby, marketing and development coordinator for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s Greater Atlanta affiliate.
