Come home to Reinhardt for Homecoming 2016

By Erika Neldner

Come home to Reinhardt next week, see what has been happening on campus since you graduated and participate in some exciting activities and events.

"We have been diligently preparing for a great week of festivities to welcome back our Reinhardt alumni, friends and family to our University in a Park," said President Dr. Kina S. Mallard. "I invite everyone to join us and experience the beauty of our campus and the excitement in our community."

Pat Patton, director of development and alumni relations, said he finds Homecoming Week as a great time to reconnect with his friends from college.

“Being an alumnus of Reinhardt, Homecoming Week makes me reminisce about all the good times I had while here at Reinhardt.  Homecoming allows all alumni a chance to reconnect with their RU classmates and to visit the campus they once called home,” Patton said. “We have a great three-day event planned for alumni, including a dinner Friday night, where we will honor the Golden Anniversary class of ’67, the Silver Anniversary class of ’92 and this years 10 Under 10 Award winners."

Homecoming Weekend officially is Oct. 28-30 but events are scheduled throughout the week. The event includes a plethora of activities for alumni and students alike. While geared at bringing Reinhardt alumni back to campus, it’s a great time for students to connect to their university and the ones who came before them.

The theme for Homecoming 2016, “Legends of Reinhardt,” will embrace the dedication to education over the last 133 years and provide a time for reconnection and reminiscing.

"Homecoming 2016 is about honoring the roots of Reinhardt University. This year, we are recognizing our founders and the traditions that have carried our school throughout the years. We are bringing back the Moonlight Madness event that once was the hallmark for Reinhardt Basketball Homecomings,” said Amy Williams ’18, vice president of the RU Student Government Association. “Other featured events that mark a true Reinhardt Homecoming are the Block Party, the Talent Show, and Monster Mash. By combining Fall Day and tailgating into the Ultimate Tailgate Experience, Student Activities hopes to create a space where current students, alumni, fans, and all their families can come together and show their Reinhardt spirit.”
