Reinhardt College’s North Fulton
Center (NFC) Advisory Board recently received word of an updated
associate degree program in criminal justice slated to begin in
August 2008. College officials consulted with the Alpharetta
Department of Public Safety to structure a program that would
assist law enforcement personnel in meeting their educational
demands, while also providing the academic training necessary to
advance their careers.
“The Center will reach out to both the private
and public sectors and provide resources and assistance to help
individuals, agencies and businesses meet their educational
needs,” said Reinhardt College President Dr. J. Thomas
Isherwood. “The North Fulton Center will position itself as an
educational resource and broker for the entire community.”
New Program Complements
Reinhardt's Degree-completion Program in Public Safety
Leadership
The new criminal justice program is also the
first step in the creation of plans for a Public Safety
Institute that will provide training and degree programs for
people in the public safety arena. It complements the Center’s
bachelor’s degree-completion program in Public Safety
Leadership.
Flexible Class for Working
Adults
In the new program, students will take
convenient 8-week sessions in flexible classes built around the
busy schedules of the adult learner. Online course options will
also be available.
“If you are new to the field of criminal
justice or a trained professional, expanding your career
opportunities becomes a real possibility with this new program,”
said O’Connor. “Our curriculum prepares you for the fields of
juvenile and adult justice. You will explore investigation,
detection and enforcement procedures, while you also improve
your problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities. You
will learn to examine human behavior and communicate effectively
with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Your coursework
will help you address real-life situations in law enforcement,
policing, courts, corrections, law, crime prevention and related
fields.”
Classes are forming now. For more information,
