Frequently Asked Questions about the Public Safety Leadership Program (PRL)

bullet

How many hours are required for a Bachelor’s Degree from Reinhardt? 120 semester credit hours are required to obtain a Bachelors’ Degree.

bullet

What degree do I earn if I take the Public Safety Leadership Program? The program leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Public Safety Concentration.

bullet

How long is the program? The program is 48 semester credit hours in length.  Each course is worth 6 credit hours; there are two courses each semester; therefore the program is 4 semesters long.

bullet

How many courses do I take each semester to be a full-time student? You will take one 6-hour course each session, for a total of two 6-hour courses each semester, to be a full-time student.

bullet

How do I qualify for the program? You need to be currently employed, already have at least 60 semester hours of college-level credit*, and have completed 36 hours of general education (see list of required general education courses).  You must also have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.

bullet

If I have 60 hours, and the program is 48 hours in length, where do I get the other 12 credit hours ? The 60 hours is a minimum requirement for admission to the program. You must have a total of 120 credit hours to graduate.  If you come to the program with 60 hours, but less than 72 credit hours, you will need to take additional courses to make up the difference.  It may be you need a specific general education class required by Reinhardt, or, if your general education coursework is complete, you may need to take additional hours of “free electives” - courses that you and your advisor select, to reach a total of 72 credit hours. It is strongly recommended that the additional courses be completed prior to beginning the Organizational Leadership course sequence, but it may be possible, if your advisor approves, to complete these courses while you are in, or after you complete, the Organizational Leadership program.

bullet

Can I substitute courses from other colleges for courses in the Organizational Leadership Program? The program is lock-step, and all program students take all program courses.

bullet

What does it cost?  Are there other costs in addition to tuition?
please see this page for tuition details
.
Textbooks for each course will cost approximately $100 - $150.
