Currently enrolled students at Reinhardt
are eligible to enter the Year of Africa Speech Competition to
be heold on
Monday, April 17, 2006, at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall of the
Falany Performing Arts Center.
Contestants are encouraged to submit their
topic idea as soon as possible to confirm the appropriateness of
that topic for the competition. The deadline for submission
of topic and applying for the competition is Monday, April 10,
at 4 p.m.
Please submit the proposed speech topic via
e-mail to Professor Larry
Webb. In the e-mail subject line, put the words "Proposed
Year of Africa Topic." Applicants are reminded to provide their
contact information, especially a telephone number. Replies as
to the suitability of the topic will be made by e-mail as soon
as possible, usually within 24 hours of receipt.
Each contestant will present a speech he or
she wrote. The speech should be between five and six minutes
long and must feature a topic having to do with Africa or with
some element of life in one or more of the nations of Africa.
Judges will award three prizes for the best
speeches:

First - $300 |

Second - $200 |

Third - $100 |
These awards can be taken as a financial
credit at Reinhardt or as a general payment.
All Reinhardt students, faculty, staff,
friends and family of the speakers, as well as the general
public, are invited to attend this free event on April 17.
Light refreshments will be served afterward in the atrium.
