Year of Asia

 

Beginning in 2003, Reinhardt College began specific programming to promote understanding of the varied cultures, geographies and faiths of the world. The 2004-05 “Year of Asia" (YOA)  will focus on the diverse cultures and geographies of Asia and the Pacific Rim, as well as the Asian diaspora in America.

Asian Festival

Tues., Sept. 21, 2004 
 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Throughout the day, experience Yoshukai Karate, Mehndi Henna Body Art, Origami, Chinese Calligraphy, Mochi Zuki rice pounding, the ancient Japanese art of amezaiku candymaking, and more!

Where? Right here in “our backyard”  (on the Reinhardt College campus, between Lawson & Tarpley centers & The Hill Freeman Library and Spruill Learning Center)

Asian cuisine will be served for lunch outside the Gordy Dining Center.

12:30 - 2 p.m.
Shaolin Martial Arts Workshop
(Master Michael Reid, Atlanta Shaolin Center)

2 - 3:30 p.m.
Chinese Dance Workshop
featuring traditional Chinese dances (Hwee-Eng Lee, Atlanta Chinese Dance Company)

3:30 -5 p.m. 
Tai Chi (Dr. Ronnie Harris, Jacksonville State University)
