While the start of the 2018-2019 semester approaches, plans for Homecoming 2018 have already begun.

The theme for this year’s homecoming is “Fire it up, Reinhardt!” With so many campus projects wrapping up, like Eagle Views residence hall, Gordy Dining Center and the Reinhardt Theater, the variety of new opportunity offers a lot for Eagles past and present to get excited about.

Homecoming at Reinhardt is not only a great time to for alumni and friends to return to campus. It’s a great opportunity to get involved and work alongside students as they experience what Reinhardt has to offer.

As part of the University’s mission of faith, learning and leading, students will again participate in Rise Against Hunger with hopes to continue adding to the thousands of meals packaged and boxed for those in need. Alumni are invited to assist Thursday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m.

Friday will bring a community Homecoming parade around campus that will end with a bonfire next to Lake Mullenix, behind Fincher Visual Arts Building. Members of the community are invited to line the route and get involved.

Saturday, Oct. 6 will include the Alumni & Friends Awards Brunch at 10 a.m., where Reinhardt alumni and friends are invited to enjoy chicken and waffles while honoring past graduates with several distinctions, including the 2018-2019 10 Under 10 Awards. Neon-themed tailgating, included delicious fare served up by the School of Professional Studies and the McCamish School of Business, will fire everyone up before the homecoming football game against Point University at 6 p.m. As is the tradition, the homecoming king and queen will be announced at halftime.

Students will enjoy homecoming themed events throughout the week thanks to the Student Activities Council. Events are geared at serving others, spending time with friends and having fun between and after classes.

Homecoming week will kick-off with Messy Monday, an event that includes activities such as messy Twister, splatter painting t-shirts and balloon darts. Taco Tuesday will serve up tacos for dinner, and Pink Out Wednesday will be the day for homecoming shirt distribution. Thursday will include a service project of preparing meals for those in need with an ice cream social to follow. Friday will put you in the homecoming spirit with a parade around campus, leading to a bonfire. The bonfire will be complete with a DJ, food and foam arenas.
