Reinhardt University Theater
The $7 million theater project includes a 300-seat black box theater, conservatory, portico, grand lobby, box office, north and south loggias, green room, performance studio, paint shop, scene shop, wardrobe shop, media classroom and faculty offices. Built on Lake Mullenix, the new theater will be a centerpiece of Reinhardt’s ‘Arts Around the Lake’ campus and will be a grand addition for students studying theatre, faculty teaching and research and for the larger campus community. The Reinhardt University School of Performing Arts will hold its inaugural theatre/musical theatre performances in the new theater in September 2018.
Black Box Theater progress review
97% complete as of 6/27/18
- EIFS is complete
- Ceilings are installed throughout the building
- The HVAC is operational and turned on
- The Lobby and Conservatory walls and ceilings are complete
- Interior painting is underway
- Tile floors in the Conservatory are underway
- All the decorative columns are installed for the Conservatory and the Entry
- Diffuser panels are installed in the Theater
- The wood flooring in the Theater is being installed
- Handrails are being installed
- Exterior lighting and site lighting is underway
- The sidewalks are installed
- Grassing will begin this week
Eagles View Residence Hall
A new residence hall, currently called “Eagles View,” will include a central teaching and learning hub flanked by two 92-bed wings. Modern accommodations for students engaged in a living/learning community will enjoy this new state-of-the-art facility that is sure to draw attention and wide acclaim. Students arriving on campus for fall 2018 will enjoy living and learning in this stellar new facility and are sure to help recruit others to our growing ‘Reinhardt on the rise.'
Eagles View Residence Hall progress review
96% complete as of 6/27/18
- Curbing is being installed along the “new” road
- Paving of the “new” road will be completed next week
- Exterior EIFS is complete
- The sidewalks are complete
- Gutters and downspouts are being installed
- Painting of the dorm rooms is complete
- Miscellaneous drywall work in the Common Area is 85% complete
- Flooring is being installed in the dorm rooms
- Light fixtures are installed in the dorm rooms
- Closet shelving is complete in the dorm rooms
- Shower doors are being installed
- The elevators will be complete next week
- Water is turned on and all sinks, showers and toilets are being tested
- The PTAC units are installed, tested and operational
- Electrical devices (outlets, switches, etc.) are installed and face plates are on in the dorm rooms
- Finishes in the corridors, stairs and Common Areas are underway
Gordy Dining Center
Construction on the additional new space that will make the Gordy Dining Hall two-thirds larger than the existing space began in December 2017, and is on target for completion in early August 2018. Renovations to existing space will follow, including upgrades to mechanical systems and food service preparation areas. Following in the tradition of the Gordy family, who founded and still operate The Varsity restaurants in Atlanta, Athens, Alpharetta, Kennesaw and by food truck, this addition to campus is sure to enhance the culinary experience of students and the community alike.
Gordy Dining Center progress review
83% complete as of 6/27/18
- The chiller is installed and is scheduled to go online next week
- The food service exhaust hoods are installed
- Interior walls are being framed and sheetrock is being installed
- Flooring is being installed in the dishwashing area this week
- Dishwashing equipment has arrived and will be installed beginning next week
- The decorative columns are installed in the new dining area
- Coca-Cola has installed their carbonation lines for the Freestyle drink dispensers
- Exterior curbs will be installed next week
- Sidewalks will be installed this week
- The new exterior doors at the exterior balcony will be installed next week
