Study Abroad to London in 2022

Reinhardt University invites YOU to study Criminal Justice in London!

Want to check out the bloody Tower of London, site of early “justice” complete with torture and beheadings? How about an evening walk following the footsteps of Jack the Ripper? Why has this city on the banks of the Thames River survived and thrived for 2,000 years? Let’s find out together. As a bonus, you could graduate a semester early with a minor in International Relations! This is your time for the adventure of a lifetime to this amazing world capital – LONDON. In July 2022 we are heading on an 11-day journey to London and we would love you to come with us!

Once again, we are partnering with EF (Education First) Tours. They have taken RU students to Ecuador, Cuba, Ireland, and Greece over the last few years with solid results. This program will reflect the same high standards and includes all air travel (from Atlanta), hotels, most meals, a 24/7 tour director, comfortable motor coach, entrance to all events, and expert local guides. As part of the experience, you will also receive 12 HOURS TOWARDS YOUR DEGREE.

Apply this summer - if you are 18+ passport is good for 10 years (apply at least 3-6 months before trip)

Immerse yourself in International travel through a truly educational experience.

Participants will register for 12 credits of coursework at Reinhardt University and pay tuition and fees for those courses. These courses will meet from May through July 2022.

For NO EXTRA TRIP COST BEYOND the TUITION and fees for a semester, students will receive a 11-day trip to London islands as part of their course.

Qualifying students may use HOPE, GTEG and student loans to lower the tuition expenses. Summer 2022 tuition could be around $11,000. At this point it is difficult to know the amounts of the 2022 HOPE scholarship, or the GTE Georgia Grants. Those may change by Summer 2022, depending on the Legislature.

Tuition covers airfare, accommodations, ground transportation, and most meals. It does not include all meals nor does it cover passport fees or personal expenditures. Lunch and dinner expenses for frugal travelers are estimated at $35-45 per day (snacks and extra beverages not included). We can talk about packing lists and plans for things you may need for the trip and while we are there.

All classes for London will meet for two weeks in May 2022 beginning the first day of summer term. Following the first two weeks (figure about 40 hours of contact time both weeks) students will begin working on their individual projects. We will keep in contact during May and June as we prepare for our July trip to London. Students will continue to read books, watch films, do individual and group research projects. After our return to the US, students will have time to incorporate their experiences in London into their projects that will be due the beginning of August.

Academic credit may be granted in Psychology, Sociology, Political Science and literature. Courses may fulfill global studies course requirements as well as general elective hours. Depending upon a student’s major, they might fulfill some major requirements as well. Each student will receive academic advisement on an individual basis about how the courses can best be applied to his or her plan of study. Students may also complete 4 of the 5 courses needed for a minor in International Relations!

Courses:

Psychology of Serial Killers (PSY298/498, Dr. Katrina Smith)

Murder around the World (SSC298/498, Dr. Cheryl Brown)

British Politics (POL298, Dr. Simon Peter Gomez)

Literary London (ENG298, Dr. Judith Irvine)
