Rebecca Passmore Mobbs

Rebecca Passmore Mobbs, the executor of the literary estate of George Scarbrough, resides with her husband on a farm in Ocoee, Tennessee. She edited and wrote a preface to the republication of Scarbrough's novel, A Summer Ago, and assisted Bob Cumming, editor of Iris Press, with the publication of Scarbrough's last book of poetry, Under the Lemon Tree. She holds graduate degrees in English Literature and Writing from the Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury College, and in European History from the University of Tennessee. She received numerous grants including a Teacher/Scholar grant from NEH for a year's independent research on the Pulitzer Prize winning Kiowa author, N. Scott Momaday. NEH awarded another grant to study the Industrial Revolution at the University of Nottingham. Berea College awarded a grant for the study of Appalachian literature and culture. Ms. Mobbs taught history and humanities in college and high school. The Tennessee Humanities Council recognized her as an Outstanding Teacher of the Humanities in the State of Tennessee.
