Bruce McEver

Chairman and Founder of Berkshire Capital Securities LLC, President of the Religious Literacy Foundation

Bruce McEver is on the board of the Poet’s House in New York City, the University of Georgia Press and the Flannery O’ Conner-Andalusia Foundation. Bruce is a member of the Dean’s Council at the Harvard Divinity School and the Candler School of Theology at Emory University. He is a Corporate Trustee of the Trustees of Reservations (Mass.). Bruce founded the Business across Religious Traditions program (BART) between the Harvard Business School and the Harvard Divinity School and also the co-founder of the Religious Literacy Foundation, (www.tfrl.org). Bruce is a Professor of Practice in the Ivan Allen College at the Georgia Institute of Technology and the sponsor of the Poetry at Tech program.

Mr. McEver founded Berkshire Capital in 1983, pioneering the concept of providing independent merger, acquisition and strategic advisory services for investment managers and securities firms.  As Chairman, Bruce directs the firm’s international business development as well as the long-term strategy and business development efforts of Berkshire Capital, in addition to his responsibilities for major long-standing client relationships.  Bruce is a featured speaker at industry forums.

Prior to founding Berkshire Capital, Bruce served as the Assistant to the Chairman of Paine Webber Group Inc. for mergers and acquisitions.  He was formerly a Vice President for mergers and acquisitions with Blyth Eastman Dillon Inc., a firm acquired by Paine Webber Group Inc. in 1981.  Mr. McEver began his career as a venture capital analyst at Bessemer Securities, Inc. and was in mergers at Chemical Bank and W.R. Grace.

Bruce earned a BIE from Georgia Institute of Technology (on an NROTC scholarship) and an MBA from Harvard Business School.  He was an exchange student at the Technische Hochschule in Hannover, Germany.  As a Lieutenant, USN, he was on the staff of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Systems Analysis). Bruce recently (May 2011) completed an MTS Degree in Religion and Literature at the Harvard Divinity School.

He won the Distinguished Alumni Award from Woodward Academy in 2004 and was given the Dean’s Appreciation Award from the Ivan Allen College at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2015. Bruce was the bronze medalist for the 2016 Global Business & Interfaith Peace Award.

He is interested in the environment and participates actively in conservation efforts on the behalf of natural woodlands near his home at Utopia Farm in Northwest Connecticut.  Bruce is a hiker, biker, an avid reader and author of three books of poetry.
