Laura Newbern

Laura Newbern is the author of Love and the Eye, selected by Claudia Rankine for the Kore Press First Book Award. Her poems have appeared in The Atlantic, Poetry, Black Warrior Review, The Georgia Review, and elsewhere; her work has been anthologized in Best New Poets, Urban Nature (Milkweed), and Inspired Georgia (UGA Press). Other honors include a residency at Yaddo and a writer’s award from the Rona Jaffe Foundation. She teaches in the undergraduate and MFA programs at Georgia College and is the Editor of Arts & Letters. Her new manuscript, A Night in the Country, has been a finalist for the Bergman Prize and the Anthony Hecht Poetry Prize.
