Driscoll Regional Study Award: MFA students in the final year of the program are eligible to apply for a grant from the Driscoll Regional Study Award, provided the student’s creative thesis centers on the Etowah River Valley or regionally-based. To be considered, applicants must ask the MFA Director and thesis advisor for letters of support.  Send a letter of interest and a description of your project to Mr. Phil Unger at PJU@reinhardt.edu and request that the MFA Director and thesis advisor send recommendation letters to Mr. Unger.  Deadline: March 30 of each year.

 

Literary Editor Fellowship – James Dickey Review
MFA students who are entering their second year of study and who are particularly interested in literary editing are encouraged to apply for the Literary Editor Fellowship.  Only one fellowship is given each year.  The student who earns the honor will receive a $1,000 scholarship, divided evenly in fall and spring semesters, the editorship occurs. The Fellow will serve as the Assistant Literary Editor of the James Dickey Review.

 

Copy Editor & Social Media Manager Fellowship – James Dickey Review
MFA students entering their second year of study and who are particularly interested in literary editing and social media marketing are encouraged to apply for the Copy Editor & Social Media Manager Fellowship. Only one fellowship is given each year. The student who earns the honor will receive a $1,000 scholarship, divided evenly in fall and spring semesters, the editorship occurs. The Fellow will serve as the copy editor and social media manager for the James Dickey Review.

 

Graduate Teaching Assistant 

In the final year of study, the MFA Director may recommend to the Provost one MFA student who will be considered to serve as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.  The candidate must be interviewed by three faculty members in the discipline of English and the provost before an offer may be made.  As an MFA GTA in fall and spring semesters, the student will serve as a teaching assistant under the direction of a professor and serve as a tutor in the Center for Student Success, Center for Innovative Teaching and Engaged Learning, or in a Living and Learning Community.  The student will receive 50% tuition remission for fall and 30% tuition remissions for spring semesters, plus a $5,000 stipend— $2,500 in fall and 2,500 in spring.
