Summer Musical Theatre Camp at Reinhardt University

Come and experience an amazing TWO weeks of musical theatre working with industry professionals from Reinhardt University. Learn Broadway performance techniques in acting, stage combat, dance, music and auditioning musical theatre culminating in a show at the end of the two weeks.

Program Tuition: $950 for students in grades 8 to 12.
Price includes evening meal. Scholarships are available

2018 Program Dates: July 16-29, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

Performances: Saturday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 29 at 3 p.m. Space is limited.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

1) Submitted form, mailed to the address or scanned an attached to an email to BSO@Reinhardt.edu

2) Link to recorded YouTube video audition. Our production of Godspell Junior will be cast from audition tapes, and scripts will be sent in advance for participants to learn their part. Audition video should be at least two minutes long, a song from a musical that shows personality and vocal range.

CAMP STAFF:

Brian Osborne - Camp Coordinator, Musical Director

Brian Osborne, vocal coach, pianist, music director and lecturer, joined the faculty at Reinhardt University in the fall of 2016 where he is assistant professor and musical director of opera and musical theatre.

While at Reinhardt, he has music directed Guys and Dolls, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Mikado and Sweeney Todd, Once Upon a Mattress and La Perichole. In the 2017-2018 school year, Brian was the musical director of Reinhardt's productions of Brigadoon, Pippin and the opera Così fan tutte.' He also serves as music director and vocal coach for the opera program at Georgia State University where he opened productions of The Magic Flute, Hansel and Gretel and The Mikado.

For several years, he was on the faculty at Oklahoma City University where he served as vocal coach, rehearsal pianist and music director for a variety of shows including The Tender Land, Too Many Sopranos, The Pajama Game and Little Shop of Horrors.

He has worked regularly with various summer music festivals and universities, including Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Red River Lyric Opera, Reduxion Theatre, Harrower Opera Workshop, the Vianden Festival in Luxembourg, and “Si parla, si canta.”

He has recently music directed various regional productions like Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, Der Rosenkavalier and Albert Herring, to name a few. In addition, Osborne enjoys appearing on-stage and has recently performed “Miles Gloriosus” in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and “Sky Masterson” in Guys and Dolls.


Stewart Hawley - Acting, Stage Combat, Movement

Stewart Hawley originally hails from Texas where he received his bachelor's degree in psychology and Masters of Fine Arts in theatre-directing from the University of Houston. Stewart did his acting internship with the AD Players and then went to Chicago and studied the Meisner acting method with Dan LaMorte. He then traveled to Atlanta and worked at the Alliance theatre in its directing internship program. He went back to Houston and worked as a professional actor and teacher. After several years, he left Texas and went to Ohio to work on his Ph.D. in theatre. Last summer, Stewart earned his Certification as a Stage Combat Instructor with the Society of American Fight Directors. He has worked as an actor with New Stage in Jackson, Mississippi, the Barn Theatre in Maine, the AD Players in Texas and Six Flags theme parks in live action shows such the Police Academy stunt show and the Batman stunt show. He has been married for 20 years and has two daughters.


Tiffany Tindall - Dance, Choreography

Tiffany Tindall is new to the Reinhardt University staff. Earning a degree in Dance Education from the University of Georgia in 2000, Tiffany went on to earn both an M.Ed. and an Ed.S. in Educational Administration in 2005 and 2007. She performed with Dancer's Pointe Studio, the University of Georgia's Dance Department, and the Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker among other venues. She has taught dance both in the Cobb County Public School System and in several private studio settings, such as Steps of Faith Dance Company where she currently teaches. She lives in Cartersville with her husband, Jeff, and her two children, Elyse and Jacob.


Dave Nisbet - Theatre Program Coordinator

Dave Nisbet is the theatre department coordinator at Reinhardt and received his B.A. from Millikin University and his Master of Fine Arts from Illinois State University. Prior to Reinhardt, he taught at Shorter University and Columbia College in Chicago. At Reinhardt, he has directed Almost, Maine, Annie Get Your Gun and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He had the privilege to be a professional actor/director all over the United States and served as artistic director of the Phoenix Theatre in Chicago. David has been seen in numerous feature films, commercials and corporate films. David and his wife, Jan, have two sons.
