African Music Ensemble

The School of Performing Arts is starting an African Music Ensemble at Reinhardt. Dr. George Blankson has spearheaded the purchase of a set of custom-built instruments such as drums, metal bells, and gourd rattles, all the way from Ghana, Africa.

The African Music Ensemble will perform at AASOPA’s “Young, Gifted, and Black”, A Love Letter to Black Culture on Feb. 27th. They will also perform at the International Culture Fest in April.

In order to make this ensemble a success, we will need 40-50 people to join us. The Ensemble is open to ALL, faculty, staff, students, and non-RU folks as well. Please join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30pm to learn and rehearse Sub-Saharan African styles and techniques of music, dancing, and singing.

We will meet in the Falany Band room, FPAC 111.

If you have any questions, please email george.blankson@reinhardt.edu.
