Each Homecoming, Reinhardt takes the time to recognize faculty and staff members on the field before the football game. This year, those awards were earned by Dr. Jacob Harney and Dr. Josh Marsh.

Harney wears a few hats around Reinhardt as associate provost and dean of the School of Mathematics and Sciences, as well as the current interim dean of the McCamish School of Business & Sport Studies. He is this year’s recipient of the Jason Gamel Blue and Gold Spirit Award. This honor recognizes a faculty or staff member who best shows their pride for Reinhardt through athletic events, student activities, campus involvement and representation of Reinhardt Spirit as Jason Gamel ’96 did during his time as a student and staff member at Reinhardt.

“I appreciate the award more than students probably realize. I have received awards previously from faculty and professional colleagues, but never from the student body,” said Harney. “In all of my roles, I enjoy my time with the students most of all. The ability to positively impact the life of a young adult is the greatest reward of a career in higher education.”

In his third year as assistant professor of communication at Reinhardt, Marsh was chosen for the Captain A.M. Reinhardt Award. This recognition is given by the Student Government Association to showcase an outstanding member of the Reinhardt faculty who has demonstrated his or her devotion to the mission of Reinhardt University.

“I’m honored to receive the Captain M. Reinhardt award and I am grateful for the opportunities that Reinhardt has given me to serve so many excellent students,” said Marsh.

Both awards are nominated by the campus at large and then voted on by the Student Senate. Congratulations to this year’s award recipients and thank you for all you do to contribute to Reinhardt University!
