The Eagle Eye

Reinhardt students, faculty and staff celebrated a special event on April 1, inside the McCamish Media Center at the Falany Performing Arts Center -- the dedication of the Eagle Eye Newsroom. Newly decorated studios, classrooms, and ancillary spaces were sights to see!  Students Moxon Glosson and Lorenzo Robinson and Dr. Mark A. Roberts, president, commemorated the transformation of this wing over the past five years with the positioning of a new sign.

A surprise recognition was given to Dr. Josh Marsh, who humbly accepted the honor and accolades presented by Glosson and Robinson. Marsh was recognized as an extraordinary mentor, teacher, and supporter of students in the communication and media studies program, and for constructing - literally, with hammer in hand - most of the dedicated space.

Dr. Tim Appignani, visiting assistant professor, communication, and media studies, and coordinator extraordinaire of the event shared, "Special thanks go to CITEL and the Goizueta Foundation for the funding, Dr. Mason Conklin, director, center for innovative teaching and engaged learning and assistant professor of music, and Dr. John Miles, vice president for academic affairs for their stewardship on the project, Dr. Mark Roberts for his kind words at the dedication, Dr. Tish Szymurski, vice president for marketing and strategic initiatives for her constant support, and the crew at the Falany who, by now, are honorary members of the Communications faculty. We also particularly acknowledge Shari Craddock, administrative assistant to the deans, for jumping in to save the day - as she does most often - as well as all the students who helped set up and clean up!"

"But the biggest thanks of the night," said Appignani, "goes to our volunteer grill-master, Eddie Smith. By night's end, Eddie fed over a hundred people - or at least fifty football players (same math) - many of whom were latecomers lured in by the scintillating smells of the food Eddie prepared with help from two dedicated students, Philip Frowis and Evan Quinones."
