The Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers’ Institute for Strategic Enrollment Management (GISEM) was held earlier this week, and Reinhardt’s Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing Julie Fleming served as the institute chair.

Fleming, who has been with Reinhardt University for 18 years, attended the Institute, along with Director of Admissions Lacey Satterfield, at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa in North Georgia.

Reinhardt alumni Natasha Talreja’ 04 and Stephen Karafa ’13 took part in the 66th annual event to better serve their institutions. Talreja is the associate director of Transfer and Adult Admissions Services at Kennesaw State University, and Karafa serves as the director of Admissions at Mercer University. Former Reinhardt student Taylor King, senior regional admissions counselor at Columbus State University, also attended the conference.

“It was great seeing familiar faces at this event,” Fleming said. “We worked diligently to provide insightful and valuable sessions for collegiate professionals to take back to their institutions. These sessions focused on enrolling Generation Z, the changing demographics faced by enrollment leaders, leadership challenges and using data to improve student success.”

Fleming was nominated and approved by senior enrollment leaders from public and private colleges and universities in Georgia to lead the planning of the Institute, of which she and Satterfield are graduates.

GISEM is designed to promote industry expertise in the field of collegiate enrollment management strategies. In the late 1980s, enrollment management nationally became a recognized and critical field within colleges and universities. As a result, many GACRAO members’ job responsibilities expanded to include crossover functions including Admissions, Recruitment, Records/Registrar, Financial Aid, and other areas of student services. These members became the first Enrollment Manager pioneers in Georgia. GACRAO continues to serve as the professional organization for Admissions and Records Officers in Georgia. These upgraded sessions advance progress in professional development as illustrated by the 2005 pilot Advance Track focus for veteran Enrollment Professionals offered at the GACRAO Conference held at Jekyll Island.
