AT&T Foundation continues support

Thirty years ago, a scholarship program at Reinhardt University was born, and it has thrived helping students earn their degrees thanks to the continued support of businesses and community leaders.

With a new name to reflect the yearlong campaign it has become, the Cherokee Scholars program’s goal of support for Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt remains the same.

“When ADay for Reinhardt began 30 years ago, it was one day for Reinhardt to connect with the community and raise money for scholarships,” said Dale Morrissey, director of development and external relations. “It has now expanded into a year-round opportunity, and we are excited to continue this tradition.”

Since 1988 more than $5 million has been raised for Cherokee County students attending Reinhardt University. Scholarship money is raised throughout the year from dedicated corporate partners, like AT&T, events including the upcoming Born to Run 5K in downtown Canton, and the annual ribbons sales, allowing local residents and businesses to show their support for Reinhardt.

As has become a tradition each year, AT&T’s Regional Director of External Affairs, Don Barbour, presented $1,000 to Morrissey during a recent visit to campus.

“At AT&T, we are committed to helping people connect with their world and opportunities and resources that make life more fulfilling,” said Barbour. “Our community and state are fortunate to have Reinhardt University’s leadership in offering opportunities for tomorrow’s leaders, and we are proud to support the University’s Cherokee Scholars program, providing support to local students as they strive to meet their educational goals.”

“We are grateful for the longstanding support from AT&T Georgia,” said Morrissey. “Generous contributions from all corners of Cherokee County make it possible for students to achieve their educational goals and dreams.
