Porter Academy – Financial Literacy

Porter Academy - Financial Literacy

Enactus student members regularly travel to Roswell, GA to work with children at Porter Academy. Children at this school have learning differences ranging from ADD to autism. Encatus students teach the children how coupons work, the importance of saving their money, how a check works, the purpose for a bank, how to count money, and world-wide currency. Although most of their time is spent teaching the children about financial literacy, some time is also set aside to play games and enjoy interaction.

In the past, Enactus members have also visited Nelson Price Treatment Center in Marietta, GA (sponsored by GA Baptist Assocciation). Enactus members worked with the high school students on the importance of saving money, dangers of students loans, credit card safety tips, how to develop a budget after high school, identity theft, and the importance of graduating high school and obtaining some type of secondary education.
