History Outside the Classroom
History Club
This student-run organization engages in a number of historically themed activities, especially taking field trips to historical sites. In past years we have visited Jimmy Carter’s home in Plains, Ga., the Civil War POW camp in Andersonville, Ga., and Washington D.C.

The Funk Heritage Center
The F. James & Florrie G. Funk Heritage Center, pictured above right, is the Official Frontier and Southeastern Indian Interpretive Center of Georgia State. It includes the Bennett History Museum and the Appalachian Settlers Village. For students of Georgia and American Indian history, the artifacts and exhibits provide an important and unique learning resource.
History Off Campus
Opportunities to study history off campus are plentiful. Our students have held internships with the Navy and in Congressional offices in Washington, D.C., and at a variety of museums and archives in northern Georgia. Reinhardt students have also studied history in places such as Italy, France, and Northern Ireland, either individually or as part of a study-abroad group.
