Awards & Recognitions

Help the Student Government Association celebrate the outstanding work and dedication of faculty members, students, student organizations, and student organization advisors by participating in the nomination process for the awards and recognitions listed below.

The selection process for each of these awards is by nomination from the campus-at-large, and then the nominations are compiled by the Student Government Association and voted on by the Student Senate.

The recipient of these awards will be announced during the Honors Day Ceremony and/or the Student Government Association Inauguration Ceremony.

Elizabeth Moss Bailey Faculty Mentor Award

The Elizabeth Moss Bailey Faculty Mentor Award was created in 2003 as an opportunity for recognizing a faculty member that renders outstanding mentorship to students. The award is named for Elizabeth Moss Bailey '28, a distinguished alumna and former professor and dean of women who helped create the work-study program at the University. The Elizabeth Moss Bailey Faculty Mentor Award is presented annually during the Honors Day Ceremony.

Marguerite Thigpen Cline ’58 Leadership in Action Award

The Marguerite Thigpen Cline ’58 Leadership in Action Award for outstanding leadership in student government, awarded annually to a female student who has demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership in perpetuating the honor and spirit of student self-governance. Established in 2002, this award is named for Marguerite Thigpen Cline ’58 because of her active engagement within the Reinhardt community as well as her leadership within Cherokee County and the City of Waleska. The award is presented annually during the Student Government Association Inauguration Banquet.

Dennis Harris, Jr.’58 Leadership in Action Award

The Dennis Harris, Jr.’58 Leadership in Action Award for outstanding leadership in student government, awarded annually to a male student who has demonstrated the highest qualities of leadership in perpetuating the honor and spirit of student self-governance.  Established in 2002, this award is named for Dennis Harris, Jr.’58 because he was a visible member of the Reinhardt community during his years as a student and staff member of the University and now as a member of the Board of Trustees. The award is presented annually during the Student Government Association Inauguration Banquet.

Student Organization of the Year Award

Established in 2002, the Student Organization of the Year Award is intended to reward the outstanding student organizations at Reinhardt University who have clearly defined their role in the development of their members, value the ideals of leadership, collaborate and outreach with and to fellow student organizations, and dedicate themselves to serving serve Reinhardt students in a meaningful way and have made significant contributions to the Reinhardt community or beyond. The award is presented annually during the Student Government Association Inauguration Banquet.

Student Leader of the Year Award

Established in 2007, The Student Leader of the Year Award is given in recognition of a student’s outstanding leadership through his or her forward-thinking attitude. This award recognizes a student whose contributions might otherwise go unrecognized, and who has displayed leadership qualities and dedication to co-curricular activities throughout his/her academic career. The award is presented annually during the Student Government Association Inauguration Banquet.

The Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award

The Student Organization Advisor of the Year Award was established in 2010 and is given in recognition of a student organization advisor for his or her passionate and devoted support to student organizations and his or her a strong belief in the organization that he/she advises. The recipient must be the official faculty/ staff advisor of a recognized student organization. The award is presented annually during the Student Government Association Inauguration Banquet.
