Reinhardt University Baccalaureate & Commencement 2018

♦     Participation:  To participate in commencement, you must apply for graduation by April 09, 2018. All degree requirements, including satisfaction of student financial obligations to the University, must be met by 5:00 p.m. on April 09, 2018.  If you have questions regarding your financial obligations, please contact the Business Office at 770-720-5520.

Special Note:  Students who have submitted an application to graduate and have courses to complete during summer or mid-summer semesters 2018 must petition to participate in the May 4th, 2018 commencement ceremony.  You must be registered for all courses remaining to meet degree requirements and all financial obligations for the summer/mid-summer classes must be satisfied upon submitting a petition.  The form required to petition to participate may be obtained from the Office of the Registrar and must be completed and returned to the Registrar’s Office by Monday, April 09, 2018.

¨       Non-participation:  If you will not be participating in the commencement ceremony and its related activities, please notify the Office of the Registrar at 770-720-5534 or deg@reinhardt.edu by Friday, April 132018.

Update! Graduation Fair 2018 Cancelled

¨       The Graduation Fair scheduled for March 14th and March 15th has been cancelled.

  Regalia, Commencement Ceremony and Honor Cord Pick Up 

¨       Caps & Gowns and Suggested Attire:  Commencement regalia are provided at no additional cost.  The Reinhardt Bookstore coordinates orders and distribution of regalia.  You should place an order for regalia on-line at www.herffjones.com/college/reinhardt no later than Monday, March 19, 2018 to ensure timely delivery.  Cap and gown orders specifying distribution at the Waleska campus will be handed out from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Monday, April 16th – Thursday, May 3rd in the Reinhardt University Bookstore (bottom floor of the Hasty Student Life Center).  You will wear only the gown for baccalaureate and both the cap and gown for commencement.  If you are a male, wear a dress shirt and tie, black or navy blue pants and dress shoes under your graduation gown.  If you are a female, please wear a dark skirt, dress or pants and dress shoes.  Caps and gowns will not be handed out at baccalaureate or commencement so please make plans to pick up your regalia during the dates/times listed above. ¨

¨       Commencement Tickets:  Each graduate is eligible to receive up to eight guest tickets.  A graduate must submit an order form to the main campus Registrar’s Office by Friday, April 6th at 5 p.m. in order to secure tickets.  Orders will not be accepted after April 6th.  Ticket orders may be submitted by returning the order form to the Registrar’s Office via mail or fax or online. We strongly encourage you to pick up your tickets.  Ticket orders can be picked up at the Registrar’s Office beginning Tuesday, April 10th until Wednesday, May 2nd at 5:00 p.m. or pickup at check-in at Rehearsal on May 3rd. Ticket orders that have been requested to be mailed, will be mailed on Tuesday, April 17th to the address provided on the order form.  No additional tickets will be available for distribution.

*Note: Graduates are strongly encouraged to pick up their tickets in-person as we will be unable to replace tickets lost in the mail.

¨       Announcements:  Personalized commencement announcements may be ordered through the same website as regalia mentioned above.

¨       Honor cords:  For the commencement ceremony, summa cum laudemagna cum laude, and cum laude honors will be determined by the student’s overall cumulative grade-point average (GPA), including course work attempted prior to enrolling at Reinhardt, at the end of Spring 2018 Session I/end of Mid-Fall 2018 Session II grade processing.  Graduates receiving Latin Honors will be notified by letter.  Honor cords will be distributed by the Registrar’s Office from April 16th – April 27th.

 Commencement Rehearsal – Mandatory for all graduating students and staff participating in Commencement

¨     Rehearsal for Commencement will begin promptly at 3:00pm. PLEASE arrive NO LATER than 2:30pm to begin the check-in and practice walk-through! This is a MANDATORY rehearsal!

¨       Line-up:  Please line up by 6:30 p.m. in room 111 in graduation gowns without caps.  The ceremony will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

  Commencement – An academic celebration of your graduation

Friday, May 4,  2018 - Ken White Athletic Field Stadium

¨       Commencement Processional:  Line-up will begin in the Ken White Indoor Athletic Facility promptly at 8:00 a.m.  You will march in and sit alphabetically with your school—McCamish School of Business, Price School of Education, School of Arts & Humanities, School of Performing Arts, School of Mathematics and Sciences, and School of Professional Studies.  Do not bring valuables to commencement. Please leave all valuables with family as we will not be able to lock rooms. There will be a considerable amount of walking and some climbing of steps, so please wear appropriate shoes.

¨       Guest admission to the commencement areaPlease advise your guests to arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. to allow time for seating prior to the start of the ceremony.  Commencement will begin at 9:30am.  *Note: The ceremony will be available for viewing via the internet at www.reinhardt.edu/streaming.

¨       Parking:  Reinhardt’s Office of Public Safety and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office will assist with parking and traffic flow.  Graduating students should park in the Funk Heritage Center and East Hall lots.  Your guests may park in any available parking space on campus with exception of designated handicap spaces, fire lanes, and the gym parking lot which is reserved.  Space is limited, so please encourage carpooling.

¨       Handicapped/Disabled parking:  If you or your guest(s) currently have a state-approved handicapped parking pass, you will not need an additional one from Reinhardt University.  If you or your guest(s) need this accommodation but do not already possess a state-approved pass, please contact the Office of Public Safety at 770-720-5789. Disability parking is located on One Eagle’s Way, behind Isherwood Field House.  (One Eagle’s Way will be restricted to handicapped parking only).
