The Reinhardt University Screaming Eagles are looking for new members to rouse crowds at football games and gain experience in a fun, musical way.

Auditions for the Fall 2018 Marching Band, Color Guard and Twirling program will be held April 21, coinciding with “Ready. Set. Reinhardt!” and the School of Performing Arts auditions.

“Membership in the marching band provides access to a musical organization committed to musical excellence and support of Reinhardt football, athletics and campus spirit,” said Dr. Daniel Kirk, director of instrumental activities. “With an exciting football team and growing marching band, the sense of family and camaraderie experienced through participation in The Screaming Eagles Marching Band is beneficial to all eligible students.”

Marching Band members do not have to formally audition if they have previously participated in high school or other college band programs. The Saturday audition is only for potential twirlers and color guard members, and is open to all current and incoming students who can demonstrate basic equipment (flag) abilities, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

Students wanting to audition are to meet in the Reinhardt gymnasium at 9 a.m. If auditioning for color guard, it is important to wear comfortable clothes, bring equipment (flag, rifle) and be ready to learn a quick routine. If auditioning for a twirler position, prepare a short routine and be prepared to display a variety of skills to the evaluators.

In addition to experiencing the marching band at Reinhardt, all non-music major participants in the marching band (musician, color guard, or twirler) will receive a $1,500 participation grant that will be credited toward tuition.

This up-and-coming group rehearses once a week and performs at all home games, as well as two area parades, and also participates in the Cherokee County High School Marching Band Exhibition as representatives of Reinhardt.

The first marching band at Reinhardt was fielded in the fall of 2014 and the color guard has always been an integral part of the visual ensemble. The twirling positions that are available are new to Reinhardt University and there are expectations for a wonderful inaugural year for the twirler positions.
