Reinhardt University’s Opera program is keeping it spooky with Halloween approaching as they present “Legends and Lore: Songs of Fright and Fantasy” Oct. 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. The performances in Flint Hall at the Falany Performing Arts Center will be preceded by coffee and dessert at 7 p.m. each evening in White Atrium.

The University Opera will present various songs and scenes that have a connection to the supernatural and fantasy as the students display excellent artistry and storytelling. There are selections from Faust and Hansel and Gretel, as well as a mixture of ensembles, solos sung in various languages.

“The inherent challenge of an opera scenes program/concert is that you can’t tell a complete story. You are charged with telling only portions of each story,” said Dr. Cory Schantz, professor of voice. “This is a real challenge because it forces the singers to quickly change their mindsets from scene to scene. It has been a challenge to the students, but one they have responded to remarkably well.”

Tickets are $12.50 and are available for purchase at Reinhardt.tix.com or by calling 770-720-9167.
