With emphasis on Reinhardt University’s mission, vision, values, and educational ethos, President Mark A. Roberts, PhD, delivered inspirational words to staff and faculty during the annual State of the University Address on August 12, 2025.

“The greatest asset that we have is time. The question is, how are you going to spend that time?” pondered Dr. Roberts. “We have the opportunity to educate all kinds of students who have talents. We’re giving them the opportunity to deepen that talent. We are bringing diverse talents together, and we are challenging them to be better and better, and to learn from one another. When they meet challenges, it raises their confidence, and they can go out in the world and do great things.”

Dr. Roberts also commended the University’s collective determination, innovation, strategic plan, and constructive culture. He cited strong enrollment, effective fundraising  efforts, budget management, support from the Board of Trustees, and noted the campus’ location in an area of population growth. He also praised recent achievements in academics, athletics, and student engagement.

Elaborating on constructive culture, Dr. Roberts stated, “We need to help students learn how to live in positive ways, including redirecting and self-correcting. Our coaches and our faculty did a great job of that. By doing so, we also create an enriched learning environment and living community that has life to it and leads to being a vital institution.”

In a final call to action, Dr. Roberts reminded colleagues of Reinhardt’s Pillars of Practice: Ground and Guide, Connect and Strengthen, Cultivate and Shape, Create and Grow. He emphasized the importance of focusing on what is in one’s control, encouraged engagement with the University’s initiatives, and continued support of the Reinhardt community.
