After over 20 years at Reinhardt, 14 years working with the Falany Performing Arts Center (FPAC), Executive Director Jessica Akers (RU – 2005 & 2011) departs on October 16, 2025. Akers, who played an important role in expanding the University’s performance venue, heads West to join Oak View Group, a leader in live entertainment management. As assistant general manager, she plans to focus on programming and community engagement at its Grand Junction, Colorado venues.
A proud Reinhardt alumna, Akers, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance and a Master of Business Administration. She began working for FPAC in 2011 as Operations Coordinator. Over the years, she led growth: increasing the number of professional performances from 10 to 24 annually, expanding the patron base from just 97 to over 750, and doubling the number of volunteers to 63.
A notable accomplishment is FPAC’s annual “Sneak Peek” event, attracting more than 1,100 excited guests, eager to preview the upcoming season. She treasures the experience provided by FPAC, explaining, “It honestly brings me joy to see so many people excited about spending time with each other at an event.”
Under Akers’ leadership, the FPAC launched outdoor parking lot concerts, a bluegrass festival, and off-campus performances. Her commitment to a variety of audiences also opened doors for over 1,500 children each year to experience the arts through free holiday experiences, school field trips to live performances, summer musical theatre camps, and seeing their art on display in FPAC’s Ken White Atrium.
The enthusiasm Akers displayed encouraged people of all ages to embrace the performing arts. She holds dear relationships with volunteers and audience members. She stated, “I will always treasure the laughs, hugs, and standing ovations we’ve shared. The Falany is an incredible place.”
