Reinhardt’s newly established Garden Club welcomed students into a community rooted in creativity, sustainability, and a shared love of plants. The idea, initiated by sophomore William Mein (RU-2028), launched in September 2025 with a bouquet-making class led by Emeritus Professor Dr. Ed Robertson at his local garden. The inaugural event drew dozens of participants with and without a green thumb, cultivating a welcoming space for anyone who enjoys nature, hands-on creativity, and a growing curiosity.

“I wanted to start the club for students to learn about gardening, and to bring the Reinhardt community together,” explained Mein. “I hope to start a community garden and enhance Reinhardt’s natural beauty so everyone can enjoy the fruits of our labor.”

Biology Instructor Kylie Stover and Assistant Professor of Biology Megan Hopson, Ph.D., advise the club. “The purpose is to build a fun, welcoming community centered around gardening, sustainability, and plant-inspired creativity,” explained Stover. “It’s not just about digging in the dirt – we explore the beauty and benefits of plants through a variety of engaging events.”

Upcoming Gardening Club gatherings include rock painting, pumpkin carving, pressed plant art, building raised garden beds, and a field trip to the Atlanta Botanical Garden on August 9, 2025. Since anyone can join at any time, this new club looks forward to continual growth.
