The International Social Science Review recently featured an article co-written by Isabella LoBue (RU-Dec. 2025), Daniela Rangel (RU-2026), and Reinhardt Associate Professor of Political Science SimonPeter Gomez, Ph.D.
The opportunity arose when the peer-reviewed journal’s editor, Candace Quinn, reached out to Dr. Gomez to see if he would select and work alongside two students to write their annual policy point-counterpoint issue. Realizing the value of the opportunity for his students, he quickly began working with the two eager undergraduates to select a topic and create an outline.
Their article titled “Federal Troop Deployment in American Cities: Evaluating the Policy Arguments” published on December 31, 2025. Exercising thorough research and careful wording, LoBue and Rangel each composed opposing information. Dr. Gomez added the introduction, conclusion, and copyedited their work. He stated, “I am very proud of how it turned out.”
This publication reflects one of the many ways Reinhardt professors actively mentor students beyond the classroom, empowering them to seize opportunities that meaningfully advance their academic and professional growth.
