One hundred twenty-eight talented musicians from eighteen high schools attended the Reinhardt University High School Honor Band Clinic, held January 15-17, 2026. The event at the Falany Performing Arts Center united teenage instrumentalists from across North Georgia and connected them and their parents with the Reinhardt community.

Over the three days on campus, the students rehearsed difficult repertoire, transitioning from sight reading to stellar concert performances on the final evening. Esteemed guests conducted the two honor bands: James Seda, director of bands at Southwest DeKalb High School, and David Starnes, chief academic officer for the Gift of Music Foundation in Marietta, GA.

Ten Reinhardt instrumental artist affiliates held masterclasses, providing eager students with expert instruction on their instrumental techniques. Participants also enjoyed performances by the Georgia Brass Band, Jefferson High School Wind Symphony, Buford High School Wind Ensemble, and Reinhardt University musicians.

Dr. Kerry Bryant, Reinhardt Director of Instrumental Activities organized and conducted the clinic, with support from CNAfME (Collegiate National Assoc. for Music Education) chapter members.

“This annual event is a cornerstone of our recruitment efforts for the Reinhardt University Bands,” stated Dr. Bryant. “Drawing this caliber of student musicians to our campus for three days is immeasurably effective in placing Reinhardt on their ‘college choice radar.’ This is evidenced by the dozens of email and text inquiries I’ve fielded from clinic students, all wanting to know more about RU! It is a great way to show off our amazing band students, beautiful campus, and trademark friendly atmosphere found here!”
