Master of Fine Arts in Choreography Programs at Reinhardt University

School of the Arts
Master | Hybrid

Embark on a transformative journey in dance with Reinhardt University’s Master’s of Fine Arts in Choreography degree. Designed for aspiring choreographers seeking to refine their artistic vision and technical expertise, this program offers a comprehensive exploration of dance composition, movement analysis, and performance theory.

The Low-Residency Model

During the Fall and Spring semesters, students will work one-on-one with a mentor in somatic research. These mentors from the ISSC will not only guide artists confidently through a somatic research process, but also enable the student to graduate with an ISSC certification in addition to their MFA Choreography. Students will take asynchronous courses. Some courses are taken with all enrolled MFA Choreography students while others are exclusive to either first-year or second-year cohorts.

The Residency is a 10-day, residential, intensive learning experience on the Reinhardt campus each summer.  Students will stay in the dorms and eat in the cafeteria.   There are two summer residencies in the student’s MFA Program.   During each residency, guest artists will offer workshops and lectures, and there will be studio time available to put into practice what is being learned. Opportunities to collaborate in an interdisciplinary fashion with other on-campus MFA candidates will be presented.

Thesis presentations will be presented and evaluated at the end of their second Spring semester. Graduation takes place at the end of the Summer semester following their final Spring semester.  There will be a number of visiting artists teaching various parts of the Residency and giving feedback and suggestions on active research for second-year students.   The Residency is an intense exploration and creative effort for dance artists.
