MAT – Master of Arts in Teaching
Be A Life Changer
Master of Arts in Teaching in
Elementary Education
Reinhardt’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Elementary Education is designed for college graduates with bachelor’s degrees in fields other than education who are planning a career in teaching and are seeking initial certification. The program goal is to transform MAT candidates into professional educators who provide responsive and effective teaching for all students.
SUPPORTIVE
As a cohort program, students who enter the program at the same time take classes together through graduation. The interaction and shared experiences lead to a cohesive, collaborative and supportive learning environment.
FOCUSED
Classes are held on Monday and Wednesday evenings during each eight-week session (two classes per session) for a total of 12 hours per semester. The program lasts four semesters; three semesters are course work, with the last semester focused on the full-time Clinical Residency or student teaching. There is no summer course work.
VALUABLE
MAT graduates earn a master’s degree and a recommendation for a Georgia Level 5 Certificate in Elementary Education (P-5). Both are essential for job applicants seeking to enter the teaching field.
CONVENIENT
The MAT is offered in downtown Woodstock and the Main Campus in Waleska. The Metro Site is easily accessible from Interstate 575. The Main Campus is in northwestern Cherokee County and is easy to reach from GA 140, 20 and 515.
