Reinhardt University will offer its faculty’s talent to young actors and actresses interested in furthering their theatrical abilities at the Musical Theatre Intensive, a day camp offered to students grades 8-12 interested in investing in their acting careers.

The Musical Theatre Intensive provides vocal coaching, acting and movement, masterclasses and an opportunity to have a role in a cabaret performance of “Songs for a New World”—a unique chance to perform in the state-of-the-art black box performance space in University Theater.

The Intensive will take place July 15-28, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., with performances on Saturday, July 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 28 at 3 p.m., located at the University Theater.

Now a sophomore at Reinhardt, Chase Sumner attended the Intensive three times and felt it was better every year. He believes the experience serves as a great preview to life as a musical theatre major.

“My experience at the Musical Theatre Intensive was amazing,” said Sumner. “I learned so many new techniques and skills. I was pushed, challenged and encouraged.”

Throughout his time at the Intensives he attended, Sumner developed great relationships with Reinhardt’s faculty and helped him to feel comfortable working with them when school started and improved his confidence in his performances.

“I feel that I became a better all-around singer, dancer and actor because of the camp…this camp is what made me decide to pursue a career in musical theatre.”

Those applying must submit their form available at Reinhardt.edu/SOPACamp through U.S. Mail or by emailing Brian Osborne at BSO@Reinhardt.edu. Those interested in the Musical Theatre Intensive must submit a YouTube video audition performing a song that suits them best. The audition video must be at least two minutes. The application and video deadline has been extended until June 15.

Tuition for the Intensive is $950 and includes evening meals. Scholarships are available. Tuition is due July 1. Learn more at Reinhardt.edu/SOPACamp.
