Reinhardt’s annual Robert L. Driscoll Convocation of Artists and Scholars, April 7-8, 2026, showcased the remarkable talents and accomplishments of students across the University. Flint Hall and the Hill Freeman Library’s community room filled with faculty, staff, parents, and classmates to enjoy the exceptional performances and presentations.
An energetic marimba quartet opened the Performing Arts Showcase. Soloist tenor Oliver Holmes (RU-2029), soprano Ciara Devane (RU-2026), and Bryson Padgett (RU-2028) on euphonium were among the many artists to impress the audience.
Twenty-three presentations featuring psychology, education, business, science, English, and first-year student projects spanned the two-day event. To name a few, Emma Scott (RU-2027) explained how culture shapes emotional interpretation of social media content, Eryn Lee (R-2026) described the value of an internship, and Wesley Sever (RU-2026) spoke on creative writing.
Three research poster sessions drew large crowds to eagerly learn from 71 students in nursing, science, mathematics, and the Diverse Talents and Scholars Program. Jaquoia Pennamon (RU-2026) explained the Effects of Temperature on Carnivorous Plant Closure in Venus Flytraps. “We got to study something we personally enjoy, and it is nice to showcase what we spent a lot of time working on,” she stated. “Today is important for me, because this is my first time presenting.”
This student engagement with peers across disciplines served as a celebration of outstanding personal and academic growth.
Dr. Robert L. Driscoll (1935-2012), the convocation’s namesake, served at Reinhardt for a decade as a professor of education, dean, and Vice President of Academic Affairs. He was known for encouraging student scholarship, service, and creativity, and developing connections with the local region.
