With service being a key component of educating the whole student at Reinhardt University, the Office of Student Activities and RU Serve will host the spring semester Service Saturday this weekend.

The service project will be held April 8 at the Goshen Valley Boys Ranch in Waleska, where volunteers will help build a carport for one of the family homes.

“This is a great way to end the semester by helping others,” Meredith Keating, Reinhardt’s coordinator of programming and service, said about the project. “Goshen Valley is a great place to spend a spring day. It’s beautiful on the ranch.”

Volunteers will meet in the Gordy Dining parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and will return to campus at 1:30 p.m. There is no fee and anyone is free to volunteer.

A barbecue lunch will be provided, and activities will include corn hole, basketball and flag football.

Goshen Valley Boys Ranch serves as a foster care center for young men, providing them with a loving home, public education, therapeutic counseling and a recreation program. The goal of the future is “Peace and Purpose.”

“Incorporating Reinhardt students as part of our monthly work days establishes a peer connection for our youth and a strong living example of servanthood,” said Zach Blend, CEO of the Goshen Valley Foundation. “The partnership that GV and RU has established this past year will only continue to flourish as we look for the additional opportunities to connect in the future.”
