Sixty-two years of combined service to Reinhardt were honored on April 17, 2026, in the Hoke O’Kelley Auditorium. The University community celebrated the retirement of four distinguished faculty members —

The event recognized their lasting contributions, dedicated mentorship, and profound impact on students, colleagues, and the institution as they embark on a new chapter beyond their remarkable careers.

Peter Bromstad (RU-1998) devoted 23 years to Reinhardt where he previously earned a bachelor’s degree in business. He arrived in 2003 and served in the roles of controller and instructor of accounting.

Donald Gregory, PhD, launched the sociology program in 1999 and dedicated the next 27 years to serving as Professor of Sociology, including leading students in several Study Abroad trips.

Fred Fortunato, PhD, has served as Professor of Chemistry for 9 years, using his industry experience and passion to encourage student success in his classes.

Jackie Harmon, Assistant Professor of Nursing, arrived in 2023. In 2025, she received the Extraordinary Nurse Educator DAISY Award for her impact on Reinhardt students.

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve with these seasoned colleagues,” stated Dr. Kenneth Wheeler, Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Students found their experience and expertise reassuring, and we are all grateful to them for their years of service.”

Although these retirees depart Reinhardt after the academic year concludes, they leave behind a legacy of excellence, inspiration, and leadership.
