The Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) tapped softball catcher Randi Wimpy (RU-2016) for induction into its Hall of Fame. Reinhardt Athletics’ 2025 Hall of Fame also selected Wimpy for the honors, alongside football defensive end Tevin McCoy (RU-2018) and Bill Popp, former Eagles athletics director and head baseball coach.

Distinguished honors this August additionally include Robert Roddie (RU-2012 & 2016) receiving the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Southeast Conference Coach of the Year. The WPSL operates as a semi-pro league and stands as the largest and longest-running women’s soccer league in the U.S. Formerly an Eagles soccer team member, Roddie began coaching at Georgia Impact Soccer Club in 2010.

Georgia Impact Executive Director Shane Moore describes Roddie as an inspiration who leads by example and makes a lasting difference. “My motivation to coach is to give my knowledge to players so they can be better prepared to play at the next level,” expressed Roddie. “I am thankful to have been able to play a part in helping players reach their goals, from playing on U.S. national teams, to professionally and collegiate.”

Wimpy currently serves as head softball coach at Middle Georgia State University. While at Reinhardt, she helped the Eagles achieve three AAC season championships, two AAC tournament crowns, and a third-place finish at the 2014 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball World Series. During that season, Wimpy led the NAIA in home runs (22), was second in slugging percentage (.988), total bases (171), third in RBI (72), and fourth in runs scored (73). In 2016, Wimpy became a three-time AAC Conference Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-American, a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American, and the first NAIA softball player in history to receive back-to-back NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year Award.

Wimpy’s AAC Hall of Fame induction takes place on November 16 in Kingsport, Tennessee, while Reinhardt’s Hall of Fame ceremony takes place on August 25 at the Reinhardt Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly (RESPY) award ceremony. Wimpy, McCoy, and Popp comprise the first Hall of Fame class since 2019.

McCoy’s collegiate football career at Reinhardt concluded with 203 total tackles, 41 sacks, and 2 interceptions. He played on the 2017 NAIA Championship Runner-Up team, and the NAIA named him All-American and the MidSouth Conference Player of the Year.

When Popp came to Reinhardt in 2004, he started the baseball program and served as both the director of athletics and head baseball coach. He later traded coaching to serve as Vice President for Enrollment Management and Athletics. Under his leadership, the number of University sports programs doubled. In 2018, Popp filled in as interim baseball coach and led the team to its first NAIA World Series appearance. Four times, the AAC selected him as Athletic Director of the Year, and the NAIA honored him twice as Athletic Director of the Year. Popp became the AAC commissioner in 2022.

Regarding these honors, Reinhardt’s Executive Director of Athletics Jonathan Burton stated, “We can’t thank each of them enough for what they did for their specific programs and the athletic department as a whole.”
