Reinhardt University encourages and supports student internships that provide valuable experience in their chosen career fields. A connection made by Reinhardt Instructor of Business Russ Fletcher recently benefited both Emma Ponková (RU-2026) and Cherokee County, Georgia.
Ponková is a senior majoring in communication and media studies with aspirations to work in public relations. This Fall, she became the first intern with the Cherokee Chamber of Commerce to support their Destination Cherokee GA tourism initiative. In her role, she gathered footage of locations and events across the county and created engaging social media content and a comprehensive spreadsheet of tourism partners.
“Emma’s contributions have provided fresh insights and new energy to our tourism initiatives,” stated Angela McDaniel, tourism coordinator with the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce. “We are grateful for her efforts and for the ongoing partnership with Reinhardt University, which continues to enhance our work in promoting Cherokee County.”
Ponková appreciates the opportunity and Dr. Fletcher’s initiative to introduce her to McDaniel, “I’m gaining experience that I will draw from in the future, as well as getting more confident in my decision-making within the field of digital marketing.” When she delivered her concluding internship presentation, Dr. Fletcher, Dean of Students Walter May, Ph.D., and Dean of the McCamish School of Business and Professions Joe Mullins, Ph.D., attended in support.
