As part of their Law Day celebrations this year, Henry County Court of Appeals Judge Trea Pipkin (RU-2001) and State Senator Brian Strickland visited Reinhardt University’s campus on April 29th. Law Day, observed nationally on May 1st, promotes a greater public understanding of the legal system and its role in ensuring justice, freedom, and equality.
Reinhardt’s new Student Government Association (SGA) executive board was honored to meet with the special guests. “Judge Pipkins supported our idea to start a pre-law society and shared his great memories at Reinhardt,” explained Daniela Rangel (RU-2026). “Judge Pipkins and Senator Strickland asked thoughtful and engaging questions about our student life at Reinhardt. They kindly encouraged us to reach out if we needed anything.” Dean of Students Dr. Walter May added, “Both Pipkin and Strickland discussed with the students the practice of law and its many opportunities as well as offered valuable insight into the path to becoming successful legal professionals.”
Senator Strickland commented, “I was happy to get to do a tour of Reinhardt University, meet with the president, and members of the student government as I was in town for the all-day event with the Blue Ridge Barr Association, and the Rotary Club of Canton. I really enjoyed my time on the campus at Reinhardt and was very impressed with the leaders from student government that I was able to spend some time with.” He added, “I was very impressed with all that is taking place on your historic campus and I look forward to hearing more about Reinhardt’s bright future.”
“There are few things in life that give me more enjoyment than serving as a trustee for Reinhardt University,” stated Judge Pipkin. “Every visit to the campus is special for me and this last one did not disappoint. In addition to conducting the business of Reinhardt, I was able to spend some time visiting with Trustee and Finance Committee Chairman Warren Calvert, President Mark Roberts, Dean of Students Walter May, and our very special guest, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Brian Strickland. I am very excited about all of the happenings at Reinhardt and looking forward to the future of the University.”
The theme for Law Day 2025 is “The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One.” This theme emphasizes the role of the U.S. Constitution in uniting a diverse nation by fostering a shared commitment to democratic principles and civic responsibility.
