Valencia Flores is Reinhardt University’s most dedicated assistant director of admissions, recruitment. She develops recruitment strategy with the staff, supervises admissions counselors, plans college fairs and associated travel, and supports the students and counselors as they go through admissions processes.
Flores has been working at Reinhardt for nearly five years, but her story with Reinhardt started years earlier. “I graduated from Reinhardt in 2015 with a degree in music performance,” she said. She originally planned to pursue music education, but new interests emerged from campus involvement with admissions and residence life, and she decided to shift her career.
“Reinhardt holds a special place in my heart. Not only did I go to school here, but I met my husband here, along with many lifelong friends. Returning to Reinhardt for my career felt like coming back home.” Flores said she enjoys seeing the changes at Reinhardt since her days as a student. “There’s a different demographic of students here. It’s really nice to see that diversity and inclusion have grown and blossomed.”
Flores also expressed how much she enjoys the admissions team. “It’s really nice to work with a supportive team who embody the same goal and support each other both in and out of the office. Our admissions team is extraordinary!”
At home, time is spent with the boundless energy of her two boys. “Ezekiel and Eli are my little ones. They keep me very busy.” Her husband, Jonathan, also works at Reinhardt in public safety. Although time constraints keep her from pursuing her interest in music, she looks forward to instilling a love of music in her boys. As the weather warms, she also looks forward to the return of local farmers’ markets. “I enjoy all the fresh pastries, the produce – knowing it was homegrown, and the opportunity to support local businesses, which is important to me.”
